A Cold Trend Will Follow From The March 16-21st Timeframe

After a warm end to this week, next week could start out colder than average for much of the US including the East Coast.  Shown below is the ensemble mean (GEFS) for 8am Monday the 18th. The question is how cold will it be, since normal for this time of year is around 55-60 degrees F. We still could be seeing highs in the mid to upper 30s for a day or so around the 16th or 17th. This means one last frost is possible so do not plant anything outside just yet. Winter does not begin until March 20th, and it certainly is making its presence known just before the change to spring. The pattern will remain active, however snow chances are unknown at this time. We could have one last Southern Slide, or nothing at all and just below normal temps.
