Dangerous Thunderstorm Expected Today

Rounds of severe thunderstorms are expected to cross the Carolinas today as the latest storm tracks have been across the two states. Last night there was a borderline derecho (large scale wind storm thunderstorm complex) that crossed into the Carolinas and made it all the way down to the SC coast. Today, this could happen again however it could be worse with the humidity and daytime heating. Winds could gust 70 – 80mph anywhere in the yellow and orange today, so remain weather aware. The main threats are damaging winds and hail, as well as power outages from trees falling on power lines. Don’t get caught off guard outdoors today! Charlotte and south into SC carries the highest risk for today. Severe thunderstorm watch is likely.
