Hurricane Season

Florence May Threaten East Coast Next Week

Tropical Storm Florence is churning out in the Atlantic, and will continue to do so over the next several days. Many of the GEFS ensembles have the storm either making a northward turn or staying on a more westerly path towards the US. It is not clear yet as to what Florence will do. Although residents along the East Coast should monitor this storm very closely, especially if it continues on a westward path.

The latest Euro takes Florence into the Southeast US as a hurricane. This would not be good for Charleston or Savannah or anywhere in those surrounding areas. Notice there are other tropical systems behind Florence that also bears watching.

Euro for Thu Sept 13th (subject to many changes):

Now for some good news, and hopefully this pans out, the GEFS ensembles continue to indicate a northward turn for Florence. This would be the best case scenario. We just have to watch those few westward tracks and see if they continue to shift west over time. That is the key.

Nonetheless, residents along the East Coast need to be aware!
