There is currently a Severe Thunderstorm Warning out for Southeast PA including Philadelphia and other nearby locations until 9pm Thursday. Some of the storms may contain damaging winds and small hail. Otherwise, expect storms with heavy downpours. This trend will continue into into late Thursday night and early Friday morning. During the night, the storms will not be as likely to be severe, however there could be a lot of lightning and even some high winds that could topple trees and power lines.

Round 1 is expected sometime this afternoon or early evening. Round 2 is expected later tonight or early Friday morning. Round 3, and the final round, is expected early Saturday morning as the cold front finally pushes through. Philadelphia will see a pleasant Saturday with low humidity and sunny skies, and overall more bearable high temperatures, likely only in the low 80s.

More than likely, most storms will only contain heavy rain, and vivid lightning. Therefore, not every location and backyard will see severe. This does not mean to let your guard down. Be on the lookout for threatening weather, should it occur. Make sure that you are away from windows and not on a landline phone during lightning and thunder. If you have outdoor plans, make sure to seek indoor shelter at the first sound of thunder.
