SEPTEMBER TO END WARM, OCTOBER STARTS COOL

It has been quite warm out there for the past week or so, maybe longer. Down here in the South, it has been rather humid. It felt like summer today (Wednesday 9/20) down here in the Carolinas. There is decent agreement between the GFS and Euro that the warmth will persist into the last week of this month or so, and then a shot of cooler air moves in between the 30th and the 2nd.

The latest Euro shows to cooler air in place by the 30th, 8am:

Here is the GFS for around the 30th:

As of right now, it is difficult to say if the trough moving in will pick up Maria or not and toss her out to sea. We may now have to keep an eye on her since there will be a ridge remaining in the East, which could help to force her a bit westward around the 27th. We will cover that in another post here on the blog, so check https://eastcoastwx.com !

GFS around the 27th showing the potential blocking ridge of high pressure which could bring Maria track uncertainty.
