Pattern Changes

Temperature Rollercoaster Expected for the First Two Weeks of November

After a powerful storm system slammed the Northeast, much colder temperatures ushered in behind, and gave many of us a cold morning across the South. We will remain chilly early this week, and also Halloween. Then, we begin a slow warm-up. As we take a look at temperatures anomalies, we can see that there will be a ridge across the East, thus bringing back above average temperatures.

By Thursday, we could be in the 60s and 70s once again. This will make outdoor activities such as walking and jogging comfortable. However, in the South, you may still need your a/c in your car. Also, there could be some showers moving through the Northeast this week. Also, this weekend will see spotty rain chances increasing for the Mid Atlantic and North Carolina. NC could see some thunderstorms this weekend that could be on the strong side that we may have to watch. Otherwise there will just be batches of rain.

Here are the temperature departures from normal late this week:

At some point, a strong cold front moves through sometime during the second week of November. There could be severe weather ahead of this front depending on the time of day it arrives. It will get cold once again behind this front. Shown are the departures from normal for Nov 8th:

I am not thinking it will get as cold with this shot of cold air, as it did this Monday. However it will be chilly especially at night. After this shot of cooler air, we will see a temperature rebound once again. After that temperature rebound we will see yet ANOTHER shot of cooler/colder air from the 11th-13th.

Therefore, for the next 2 weeks or so, it will not stay either cold or warm for long, before changes arrive. This is completely normal for this time of year.
